Snow Globe With Attitude
Walt writes the family Christmas letter every year and has never once gotten past the first sentence. "Another year has passed," he types, and then he stares at the cursor like it owes him money. His wife, who writes forty-page recaps with a section on the dog, has given up asking. This year Walt found a shortcut: a snow globe with the whole letter already printed on it, in tall looping script across red and silver stripes dotted with cream polka dots and little hearts: joy, hope, love, peace, christmas.
He wrote the word list on a card: five words, no punctuation. His wife looked at it for a long time. "That is the letter?" she asked. "That is the letter," said Walt. "It says everything. There is even a heart." She picked up the globe and shook it. Red glitter whirled through silver and white, the words rising and falling like waves. She read each one aloud. When she got to peace, she paused, glanced at the pile of unwashed dishes and said, "It is missing a few things, but I am willing to accept it."
The letter went out with a photo of the globe and a one-line note: "Shake gently." Seventeen relatives replied with "Best letter in years." This is what happens when a snow globe does the writing: a red, silver and white dome with five good words and a lot of sparkle, short enough for a man of few sentences, bright enough for a table of cheerful guests. Walt has asked for a second one so he can write next year's letter in advance. He says he is thinking ahead.
Where It Lives
The print runs in bands, so it looks good from every angle: on a side table, a bookshelf, a kitchen windowsill or the desk where you answer cards. Keep it near a stack of mail and it becomes an instant reminder to be kind. Put it beside the guest book at a party, and people will read the five words aloud and then, being people, argue about which one matters most. Shake it, set it down, and notice how the silver glitter inside makes the red look like it is glowing from behind.
Gift Ideas
Give it to the grandfather who has never written a card longer than "Merry Christmas, Dad." Give it to the friend who is brilliant at presents and terrible at notes. Give it to the couple whose annual letter has a standing section called The Dog. Add a card that says, "Five words. You are welcome." The recipient will laugh, shake it and say it is basically everything. Then they will gesture at it every time someone asks what they have been up to.

Poster/Canvas Care
Care Instructions: Poster
Keep it out of direct sunlight, which fades ink over time. Hang it in a dry room, away from steam and damp. Dust it gently with a soft, dry cloth, and don’t spray or wipe it with liquid. For the longest life, put it under glass in a frame. Handle it by the edges, and store it flat or rolled loosely, never creased.
Care Instructions: Canvas
Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat vents and damp rooms. Dust the surface with a soft, dry cloth or a dry brush. Don’t use water, sprays or cleaners on the print. Hang it on a secure wall mount, and avoid pressing on the front of the canvas. If it’s stored, keep it upright and wrapped in a clean cloth, away from anything that could dent the front.
